Recently, we’ve received a couple of spam emails which have ip129.ip-141-95-100.eu as the link to unsubscribe. We’re trying to investigate whether or not this is a legitimate unsubscribe tool. One of the first spam emails we noticed which included this unsubscribe link was an email from ‘noreply@lowes.com’. It’s quite safe to assume this is a spoofed email and not from lowes themselves. The real question is, does submitting your email to this unsubscribe tool actually stop the emails?
After submitting your email address, it just says “Sorry to see you leaving :(“. It doesn’t specify how quickly the spam should stop. After firstly unsubscribing from ip129.ip-141-95-100.eu we only noticed one more spam email in our inbox which had this link as the unsubscribe link. This arrived on the same day that we unsubscribed. This could mean many things. It could mean that the unsubscribe tool works, however is that even relevant? Even if the unsubscribe tool does work it then shows the spammers your email is active and they could just switch the spam emails up a bit.
Summary
In any case, if you receive any email and ip129.ip-141-95-100.eu is offered as the unsubscribe option, do the following:
- Block the sender
- Move email to junk if it’s not already
- Report email as phishing / scam to email provider (Outlook has a report button, other providers should have similar).
- DO NOT ENTER YOUR EMAIL onto ip129.ip-141-95-100.eu – this will show your email is active and likely encourage more spam.
In any case, even if entering your email did stop the spam from ip129.ip-141-95-100.eu it would then just swap over to being received from one of their numerous other fake unsubscribe websites.
