02476981000 – Who Called Me? Is It A Scam?

If you’ve recently sent or received a call from 02476981000 then it’s likely you’re being targetted by scammers. These scammers are probably the same scammers operating many scam numbers such as this, this and this number and many more. Keep reading to see the particulars of this scam.

Firstly, the scammers will reach out to you via email to inform you that you’ve been accepted for a loan. In this case, the scammers are imitating Lendable Loans, another online loans platform. The scammers will possibly already have some of your personal information. It’s potentially obtained from a badly run or dodgy online loans comparison provider but we’ve not yet identified if that’s the case or not.

How Does The Scam Work?

After calling the number provided, 02476981000, you’ll be asked by the scammers for the reference number in the email. They’ll continue to ask personal information and irrelevant information, do not provide them with any additional information about yourself. They also request account numbers and sort codes, which they may already have before you call them. Giving them this information could be inviting them to set up fradulent direct debits in your name. After this rigmarole you’ll be asked to provide a £25 insurance payment for your loan to be sent to you. They’ll send you another email while you stay on the phone.

We’re being asked to buy a £25 steam gift card to send to the scammers to receive our loan payment. This is a very bad scam and we hope nobody will ever fall for it. If you receive any emails from these scammers, please block them and report the emails to your email provider.
